Dear Reader,

Welcome to the Spring 2021 edition of MiNT Magazine, [Redacted]. [Redacted] reflects the things unsaid, the exit wounds, the blank spaces left behind where something once was. Pieces like “A Voicemail to a Memory” and “ode to an old friend” represent the people who are [Redacted] and what it means to continue in their absence. However, redacting doesn’t have to be a bad thing. Sometimes redaction can transform. H. Reese redacts lines from Hamlet’s famous suicidal soliloquy in “To be Against a Sea of Troubles No More” to create a new piece urging its readers to “respect / That / long life.”
For a few of us in MiNT Magazine, redaction is occurring now. Our time at Geneseo has come to an end, and with it brings the end of our time working on MiNT. This magazine has been my creative outlet for the last four years, and working on it has brought me immense joy. I’m so proud of the work we’ve done together, and I’m proud to be passing it on to the next generation of editors who will continue to cultivate this little MiNT plant and help it to flourish and thrive.
Thank you to all the writers and artists who sent us some incredible work this semester, and thank you, reader, for continuing to support us. And of course, thank you to the editorial board without whom none of this would be possible. I may not miss Zoom once this pandemic ends, but I’ll certainly miss Zoom calls with you. Have a great summer, and never forget, [not very cash money of you to try and read this].
