Dear Reader,

Welcome to another issue of MiNT Magazine! We’re so excited to present this issue to you as we enjoyed making it a lot! It has everything you could want: beautiful photographs, eloquent poetry, and possibly more fiction than we’ve ever had in a single issue before.

Although we assign themes to all of our issues, we never require that students adhere to them. And most students haven’t. But Roots is different. This semester, we saw a massive influx of people writing to the theme of Roots. Some wrote about the roots you find in nature. Some wrote about their childhood and parents. And some wrote about their cultural roots. With these three themes, you see the many roots that we grow out of. They tie us to the past, and we must decide whether to cling tighter or let go. You’ll see both of those outcomes within these pages.

I’m personally so proud of the issue we’ve put together this semester. All these weeks of reviewing and re-reviewing piece after piece has finally come to fruition, and this magazine is what we’ve grown. Congratulations to my club on a job well done, and I hope you hold onto this magazine as proudly as I will, remembering how you watched it grow from the word Roots scrawled on the whiteboard to the collection of works from our talented student body.

Thank you all, submit next semester, and most importantly, enjoy Roots!
