Hello readers,
Tonight we celebrated the launch of Ashes, volume 36 of MiNT Magazine! We are all very proud of this volume. The poetry, prose, and visual art that went into it show the varied perspectives SUNY Geneseo students have on the subjects of life, death, and rebirth.
The night started with the ceremonial cutting of the cake, with an extra special message from our secretary, Bridget Cain, to our art director Nickolas Schuessler:
Then, our Editor-in-Chief graced us all with her thoughts on the issue. She thanked the E-board (note: you’re welcome), and told us how proud she was to have her first issue as EIC out.
We enjoyed looking through the finished work too.

As per usual, the night included several readings of poetry published in the issue. Mandlenkosi Mandizha, who read his poem “For I am I am I” at the launch party for last semester’s issue, read again. This time he performed his poem “New Worlds, New Dreams,” and even gave us some context behind his experience with the writing process. Other readers include Nicole Callahan and Bridget Cain, both of whom are actually members of the Eboard for MiNT Magazine. They both published something in Ashes and were nice enough to read their work for us tonight.
We also had our art director, Nick Schuessler, talk about his photograph from this issue of the magazine. We hope that more artists will be inspired to tell us about their work next semester!
As always, we had an amazing time giving the world a look at what Geneseo students are producing in the creative fields. We loved having those of you who did show up, and we hope to see even more of you next semester when we launch volume 37.
One avid reader and a some photo bombers.
Sincerely,
Your friends here at MiNT
